Sign your child up for Discover Scuba Diving

Diving is a fun way for children to interact responsibly with water, animals and the environment. Although the theoretical aspect may seem difficult, children learn very quickly and have good problem-solving skills.

Below is more information about diving for children. The theory lessons are always held in our divecenter, where the students are explained the basics of diving in a quiet learning environment. During the course we use MaiDiving’s diving equipment; we have a suitable diving set for every child. The pool lessons take place on Saturday afternoon from 12:00 – 13:00 or on Wednesday evening from 20:30 – 21:30 in Zwembad Albrandswaard.

PADI Bubblemaker

The Bubblemaker program is a trial dive for children as young as 8 years old.
Through interactive instruction, safety rules and communication manners with hand signals, among other things, are explained. Then it’s time for underwater fun! Children are always intensively supervised; that is, we never pair more than two children with one instructor.

PADI Seal Team

The PADI Seal Team is for young divers who want to have fun and lots of action in the pool. We do this during exciting Aqua Missions. The first 5 Aqua Missions introduce you to the basics of diving such as trimming out, deflating the mask and recovering the regulator.

The Seal Team:

  • focuses on instilling a sense of responsibility
  • teaches children about marine life
  • is a fun experience given only in the pool
  • is taught by licensed and trained professionals

PADI Master Seal Team

After gaining Seal Team certification, more missions await! During the Master Seal Team course, there are 10 exciting and fun Aqua Missions to complete. These take about 2.5 hours per mission (homework, theory and underwater time) and teach children the basics of underwater photography, navigation and wreck diving, among other things. These Aqua Missions are also conducted in the pool.

Children receive a structured program in which they develop skills, learn things about the underwater world and thus get a good foundation for later achieving the Junior Open Water certification.

  • PADI Junior Open Water Diver

Children between the ages of 10 – 15 can take the Junior Open Water Diver course. The course structure and teaching materials are the same as the Open Water course for adults, but more attention is given to young divers, both during theory and pool lessons.

The course consists of 5 theory lessons (incl. exam) and 5 pool lessons. In addition, we make 4 dives in open water in the Netherlands. The planning of a Junior Open Water Diver course is always made together with the parents so that the program, in combination with school assignments and other sports, does not become too busy for the child. After all, the course should be as enjoyable as possible for everyone!

The progress of the lessons is regularly discussed with the parents so that they are always aware of the progress. If necessary, additional lessons can be scheduled. Certified Junior Open Water divers up to 15 years of age have a depth restriction due to age; they may dive to a maximum depth of 12 meters.

  • PADI Junior Adventure Diver

After completing the Junior Open Water Diver course, children between the ages of 10 – 15 can develop into an adventurous diver through Adventure Dives. These dives involve one theory section and an open water dive, where children discover various disciplines such as perfect buoyancy, underwater photography, navigation, night diving, driftdiving and underwater biology.

  • PADI Junior Advanced Diver

Children aged 12 – 15 can improve their diving skills through the Junior Advanced Open Water Diver course. This course corresponds to the Advanced Open Water Diver course for adults, but the didactics of the instructors differ, as well as the depth of the dives. The Junior variant consists of 5 Adventure Dives, with accompanying theory of that discipline. The Deep Dive (maximum 18 meters) and Navigation Dive are mandatory.

  • PADI Junior Rescue Diver

Children 12 years and older who have completed the Junior Advanced course can take the PADI Junior Rescue Diver course. This course consists of 5 theory modules with exam, 10 skills exercises in the pool and one day of role playing or various scenarios in the open water. For many, the most fun part of all diving courses!
